What Are VA Disability Benefits?

Veterans who become disabled while serving in the U.S. military are eligible for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Eligibility

According to the VA,  a veteran must have a documented medical condition that is related to “circumstances of military service” to receive VA Disability Compensation. This includes: an injury or illness that occurred while serving on active duty or inactive duty training, a pre-existing condition that was made worse due to service, or a disability that developed after service but is proven to be service-connected. In addition, the veteran must have been discharged in any condition but dishonorable.

Documents Needed to Apply

  • Discharge papers (DD214)
  • Medical Records
  • Service Treatment Records

If you don’t have any of these records and or if your in service injuries or disability were not documented in most cases we can still assist you.
